Biking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny Max Speed: 15.08 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 13.50 mile (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Easter Sunday 17th April – bike ***** – Around Felixstowe including lunch with ‘Emily at Falkenham Church – sunny. There was a slight chance of enough of an onshore breeze for a spot of foiling but with high water in the middle of the day and Felixstowe being very busy due to lovely Bank Holiday weather the seafront would be best avoided so we agreed to take a picnic to our favourite Falkenham Church and have it with ‘Emily’ :) After yesterdays bad wordle, getting 5 I was much better today getting it in 3 before getting up for breakfast and then exercises in the back garden before making a couple of yummy cheese and pickle rolls. After pumping up our tires we left home at 12.10 stopping off at the local hardware shop before continuing to Abbey Grove leading to The Grove which was surprisingly quiet as was nearly all our bike ride, just perfect, deep blue Suffolk skies, sunshine and very few people, loved it:) The crows were noisy in the tree tops as we carried onto Gulpher Road turning down Marsh Lane where we meet a lady walking her dogs who we were friendly with when childminding and stopped for a chat. Then down past the delict house stopping at the vivid yellow field of rape, I never tire of taking pics of blue and yellow, what a great combination, only was I got a puncture:( Thank goodness for ‘Slime’ in the innertube’s as after a quick spin of the wheel and a pump up we were on our way again:) Up on the Deben wall for a short distance as the tide was high before cycling past Kings Fleet with loads of swans, on the water and grazing in the fields. I had to stop once again to pump up my tire but that seemed to cure the problem, as we approached the outskirts of Falkenhan we spotted out first deer running across a field. We are always pleased to find our favourite seat Falkenham Church vacant and had a very pleasant and peaceful picnic enjoying the stunning views down to the Deben. We were joined for lunch by a pair of circling buzzards calling to each other, then after our cuppa Mag spotted something in the wheat field, at fist we thought it was a hare but on closer inception with the binococulars discovered it was a Chinese water deer complete with teddy bear ears and little fangs, just stunning:) I managed to get quite close before spooking it, in fact there were two as one was laying down and we couldn’t see it until they did a runner! Well rested and entertained we continued to Kirton with the verges a mass of wild flowers, Spring is just the best time:) Then the usual route through Trimley to the tree lined avenue stopping at the little pond to feed the fish, around the Academy and home. We had to nip out in the van so Mag could get another free mirror to put in the garden, as there had been a bit of a breeze while out biking I went and check The Dip but there was very little wind on the seafront so did not miss any windsurfing today, it is looking promising from Wednesday when hopefully we get a run of North easterlies:) Home for a cuppa and finish our delicious Lidl Easter Hen and listen to YouTube music as nothing on the TV as usual!
